Troubleshoot
Q: Rotation is not working
A: Make sure a target layer is assigned in the Look control. StareLock requires a valid target to function.
Q: Nothing changes after applying StareLock
A: Ensure the Active checkbox is enabled. Also confirm you are working inside an active composition.
Q: Layer is facing the wrong direction
A: Adjust the Offset value to correct alignment based on your layer’s default orientation.
Q: Rotation feels incorrect or inconsistent
A: Check the position of the target layer. Extreme distances or overlapping positions may affect behavior.
Q: Target layer is not affecting rotation
A: Verify that the correct layer is selected in the Look control. Reassign if needed.
Q: System behaves differently in 3D layers
A: StareLock works with both 2D and 3D layers, but orientation may vary. Use Offset to fine-tune results.
Q: Expressions are not working
A: Make sure expressions are enabled in After Effects. Restart the application if needed.
Q: Panel or preset not visible
A: Restart After Effects and check the correct installation path. Ensure files are placed in the proper directory.
Q: Can I use StareLock on multiple layers
A: Yes. You can apply it to multiple layers. Each layer can have its own target or share the same one.
Q: Can I animate the target layer
A: Yes. Moving the target layer will drive rotation in real time for all linked layers.
Q: How do I reset the rotation property
A: Disable the Active checkbox to stop the system, then remove the expression from the rotation property (Alt + click on the stopwatch and delete the expression). This will restore manual control.
You can also reset rotation to default by selecting the property and pressing Reset in the transform panel
